The Day Before the Inauguration

Tomorrow is Barack Obama's inauguration into the presidency... I'll admit it: I'm a little nervous. There are so many thoughts that cross my mind at the moment, from fear that he'll be shot (or catch pneumonia) to concern about his effectiveness as a president. The country has invested a good deal of faith in him, and set an expectation that would be hard for any person to fulfill. I guess I'm most worried I'll be disappointed. I'm a bit cynical after the last 8 years.

On a slightly less exciting note than the Obama inauguration, I did manage to finish Rachel's Christmas quilt! I stayed up all night on 23 Dec, most of the night on the 24th and finished just before it was time to open presents on the 25th. Talk about procrastination. There were definitely moments I thought I wouldn't get it finished... and I probably didn't deserve to, but woohoo--I did! I think she liked it. I hope she liked it. I think it's a pattern I'll use again. The single Irish chain is pretty simple, and I like the look. The picture isn't great, but it captures the essence of the quilt. :) I'd really like to make a scrappy, triple Irish chain using red fabrics against a white background. Love it!
